Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day

Here at MAD we love to have fun, but some days it is also important to keep in mind the things that can effect our children and their health. Today is Kawasaki Disease Awareness Day. Most of you have never heard of it but 80% of patients are UNDER 5 years of age! I would hope everyone takes a minute to make themselves aware of this disease and know the signs. And for those of you who have a child living with Kawasaki Disease, know that we here at MAD love you and hope you have some fun today. (((HUGS)))

We "love" this shirt idea

Disney's Family Fun site has come up with this easy and great looking idea to turn a tee shirt into a valentines. I picked up a pack of dollies at Dollar Tree for just a buck. It doesn't get much easier and your child will be so proud to wear something they made!

The Grumpy Old Troll's Wedding Day Maze

Here comes the....troll?!?!? LOL Can your child help him find his bride in this Dora the explorer maze?

Play-doh lid bracelets

Every year at Christmas, our son always gets play-doh. But what happens when the play-doh dries out and your left with all those cans  and lids? Well for those of you with little girls, why not make bracelets out of the lids for them! Parents should do the cutting but the kids will love the end result.

Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension Activity Book

My son LOVES Phineas and Ferb. And I must admit, it is the one cartoon even I can sit through and have a laugh from time to time. He loved this movie so I am sure he will like this activity book!

Make your own dragon

January 23 is Chinese New year

We here at MAD Family Fun love to celebrate holidays from all over the world and Chinese New Year is almost here! It is the year of the Dragon. Over the next few days we will share with you some fun ways to celebrate this holiday with your family.

What is Chinese New Year? Well, Chinese New Year is the most important of the Chinese holidays, and is a time of feasting with the family, celebration, fireworks and gift-giving. It is a 15-day holiday, beginning on the first day of a new moon and ending with the full moon on the day of the Lantern Festival.

Each year is marked by a different animal. Wonder what you are? Check here!

What does that say!?!??!

I recently got a note home from school saying our son needs to work on his hand writing. Yes, I guess it could stand some improvement. What to do? I found this fun and useful Dora's Writing Practice Paper. It has the lines like they use is school. Now I can print off as much as he needs!

Disney Printable - UP Adventure Book

Based on the movie UP, this printable Adventure Book is awesome! It is filled with activities that will keep your children busy for a while. And I don't mean coloring and dot to dot.... I mean real activities they can do and have fun with. And when they complete each activity there are badges they get to glue in. This is VERY cute. Check it out!

Bear cam ... Jewel is in labor

We love this group. We have watched year after year as new cubs join the forest family. This year they have a cam in Jewel's den and it appears she is going into labor!!!! So stop by and check it out. You never know, you might get to see the miricale of birth and have the chance to watch her cub(s) grow. The really neat part is this cam has sound so you get to hear the cubs too!!!

Cool Candy Craft

Every once in a while my son and I like to wander around Micheal's craft store. We can usually find a few discount craft kits for a buck to keep us busy on snowy days. Well this cheap mama found something she paid FULL price for! LOL Yes folks, a whole $3.99!!!

What did we buy? The Wilton Candy Necklace Kit. It comes with enough individually wrapped kits to make 8 necklaces (which is 50 cents a piece.) My son had a blast making and eating his. And the nice thing is we have enough to do it again and again! Like maybe again today when Nana and Papa stop by for a visit.

Winter fun

When it is 20 degrees out, the last thing we as parents want to do is stand outside and freeze our bums off. Am I right?!?! But I had a reminder yesterday, as I stood there freezing at the sledding hill, three weeks before my c-section date ..... this was a childhood memory my son will have always.

The joy on his frozen pink checked face as he raced passed me brought a smile to my heart. Why am I telling you all this? Because some times we need to suck it up and do things that may not appeal to us, but will bring our children great joy.

So put on those gloves, extra sock, and long undies and get out there. Forget your age and make a snow angel. Build a snowman. Bruise your butt on a sledding hill. Just remember, they are only small once and you don't want to miss out.
